Stuck at Target

Even through it was not my first job, I started working at Target at age 16. I unloaded trucks and stocked shelves for over 3 years before being promoted to the second level in the company and then 30 days later being promoted again.

For the next 4 years I continued to promote and do well at Target and after working with mentors that made great money and had worked for the company for 10 - 25 years each, I figured I might just keep working there and retire from Target. I mean really why not, some of them made close to 6 figures and seemed to be really happy with their career.

Then something happen, they fired our district manager and then replaced him with a younger less experienced person. To be blunt, she was not a very good district manager and I was really confused why they fired someone with 25 years experience.

Then store managers started started disappearing one at a time, most forced into early retirement, some fired and some just pushed to quit. That was alright through, the were still mid level managers with lots of experience and they helped make up for the new younger stare managers.

Then the mid level managers begun to be terminated and fired, but just one at a time. Unlike the store managers there were 7-10 mid level managers per store and they would only get rid of one at a time. Every time they got rid of one, they would bring in a 22 year old collage grad, pay them half as much as the past manager. Then have the other more experienced managers train them. Then fired another, until 2 years had past and they had got rid of 95% (over 200) of the older more seasoned managers.

Time to wake up and smell the coffee

I still had youth on my side, so I could have road that train for many more years. Could have made great money for a good ten more years.

I just couldn’t stop thinking about what was going to happen to me after I had been there to long, I remember thinking about how I thought I had a career, not just a job. coffeeI thought about things like going back to school, but just couldn’t figure out how that would help. I saw the 22 year old grads coming into Target with degrees in things that had nothing to do with Retail. I would ask them why they worked at Target instead of their fields and they would always say something like….”I had been looking for 3 or 4 months is this is all I could find”.

So why pay 40,000 - 140,000 getting a degree and getting a salary job at Target for 32,000 a year, I was making that without a degree.

Long story - short, You search, you will find

I began my search for a business, I wanted to control my own future and pay. I was sick and tied of not being in control of my own future. So over the last 5 years I have been on a crash coarse with success. I have spent more time failing then succeeding, but I have gotten up one more time than I fail. John Maxwell calls it “Failing Forward”

So why do I brag about Failing???

Because I know that failure is part of the process of success.

I know complacency is what creates poverty. I know it is easier to never aim for anything, than to aim for success and work towards where you want to go.

I know its less stressful to never worry about 10, 20, 30 or even 40 years from now, but guess what???? It is going to come anyway, why not make a plan and work towards it, why not aim for the bulls eye.

Sometime you can’t see where you are, from where your at.

Thank God for that wake up call I got, see I was going full steam ahead in the wrong direction. It was not until 24 - 36 months into this process , that I realized how much my life had changed.

Maybe this is your wake up call, maybe its time for you to ask yourself some key questions.

  1. What do I want? (think hard on this)
  2. Am I doing everything in my power to get what i want?
  3. Doing what I have been doing, how long will it be before I have what I want?
  4. Am i willing to change course and head in the direction of my dreams? (what you want)

After you get on the right track its good to know you can still get RAN OVER!!!

IF YOU ARE NOT MOVING!!!!!!!

I have to say Sarah and I are moving and moving quickly, in Zurvita our team has grown to over 370 team member, in 33 states nation wide as of today. We get paid when hundreds of people nation wide pay their Electric bills, Natural Gas bills, health coverage, home warranties and much more.

I know we have made more in our first year of Zurvita than I made at Target full time.

I know I made more the first month in Zurvita than I made in the first 4 years of working from home businesses.

I know that 8 months ago Sarah and I won a top produces trip to the Bahamas and Miami.

I know that 2009 we will make twice what we made last year and that 2010 we will make over 500k.

I know that we will travel the world and fund churches all over the world.

I know we will mentor and coach hundreds of people to success.

How do I know all this, because I am not quitting …….until!!!!
